HAPPY TAILS FOR SNOWBALL

Snowball is smiling in her new home!

Some of you might remember Snowball's story - she was rescued by one of our foster parents from being abused and kicked in a parking lot.

We have good news to share - last week, Snowball went to a wonderful adoptive home! Her new dad, Steve, even installed an invisible fence prior to adoption - just to keep Snowball safe.

Today we received these cutie pictures of Snowball in her new home. We are so happy for her! As you can tell from these smilin' dog pictures - Snowball is pretty pleased as well:)

I am just full of personality!

Napping on dad's bed!

Thank you to Steve for giving Snowball such a wonderful home! And a big thanks to Susan for saving and fostering sweet Snowball!

PUPPIES GALORE!

"C" puppy - Caleb

Puppy season must be here early this year (sigh). Meet our newest additions - the "C" puppies!

The man who found Hattie and Heidi found these pups when they were about 5 weeks old. They look a lot like Hattie and Heidi - maybe related?

He tried catching the mom but he couldn't get close enough to get her so he brought the puppies home because it was so cold. They came into our foster program last week.

These 9 puppies are fat and happy in foster care right now - and will be on their way to rescue in the beginning of March!

There are 5 girls, Chelsea, Candice, Courtney, Callie & Carley and 4 boys, Caleb, Carson, Craig, & Cain.

They are 3 months old and weigh between 15-20lbs. We are not sure about the breed - Southern mixed breed specials:)

They are all very friendly. We have no idea why they all wanted to lie in the hole during the photo session - but they all did.

WHAT IS BETTER THAN ONE BEAGLE HEADING TO RESCUE?

Oxford FINALLY gets his chance!

What is better than one Beagle heading to rescue? TWO Beagles heading North to a new beginning!

This past Thursday was an exciting day for PAWS volunteers.

Sweet OXFORD - one of our very long-term residents finally had his chance to shine.

Oxford
headed off to our rescue partner in New England to find his forever home at last! Oxford is the best boy ever - but being an older Beagle with some special medical challenges - we just could not find the home he deserves locally. We are thrilled that he finally has an opportunity to find a family that will cherish him for his remaining years.

Oxford heading North!

One last good smell before I go!

Traveling North this week with Oxford was another special Beagle boy named Badger.

Badger was one of those unexpected rescues (not that we are ever expecting the dogs that come our way).

A few weeks ago we received the following email from Badger's Dad, Peter.

I have tried desperately to find a home for my beagle over the past 6 months. Due to my work commitments, it is very difficult to care for a dog. Foster homes seemed to be full and shelters only took-in abused or neglected animals. I had no other choice last week but to surrender Badger to the Marion Animal Shelter. Even though I surrendered him, I dearly care for him. If you know of anyone that could provide shelter for him or adopt him, please let me know. He had his yearly shots in December and has heart-worm medicine. He’s 5 years old and has never been sick and doesn’t have any behavior issues. I thank you regardless of any assistance you could offer! Peter

Of course we had to help Peter and Badger...how could we not at least try?

It is obvious that Badger has been a beloved companion to Peter and was very well cared for. Both human and pup deserved a chance at a happy ending. PAWS volunteers, Lisa and Leanne stepped up and took Badger into foster even though they were full to the brim at their house...

Badger is lucky Beagle number two!

Don't worry Dad - I am in good hands!

Thankfully - our rescue partner also stepped right up and found a foster space in New England for Badger Boy.

Both boys arrived safely in New England yesterday! We look forward to receiving and sharing updates on both!

Bet there was a lot of soulful hound music on that transport:)

VALENTINE'S FUNDRAISER A BIG SUCCESS!

Love was in the air yesterday at the West Memphis Walmart! Our chocolate and dog treat fundraiser was great success!

Thanks to all of you dog lovers (and chocolate lovers) - we raised $484.00 at the table yesterday and a little over $800 in total sales over the week!

These funds would be the equivalent of two heartworm treatments for our rescue dogs. Unfortunately - because of our giant outstanding vet bill - looks like funds are already spoken for - sigh:) The vet will be happy though!

A BIG thank you to Mary, Todd, Lesley, Terri and Victoria for donating their time making boxes and selling treats this week. We could not have done it without you!

Happy Valentine's Day! Woof!

WHAT IS UP WITH ALL OF THE RED DOGS LATELY?

Usually - we are overflowing with black dogs here at PAWS. We have a passion for helping the black colored pups that often are over looked for no other reason than they blend in/do not stand out in a crowd.

Looking over our current pet list and recent blog entries - it appears that lately - we have been trending towards big red dogs!

Meet our latest BIG RED DOG - BUDDY!

Buddy appears to be around two years old. He is a strikingly handsome boy that strongly resembles a Fox Red Pointing Lab. Buddy was found by one of our foster moms. He ran out in front of her car so of course she had to rescue him.

Buddy was skin and bones and had a bad skin condition. But as you can see he has gained some much needed weights and his skin is looking better each day. He still has some scraps where he had been in some fights before he was rescued.

Buddy is currently living peacefully with multiple dogs in his foster home - and will make a wonderful indoor member of someone's family!

Buddy, like many of our other dogs, has tested positive for heartworm disease - and could use some donations so that he can be treated.

Lab lovers - this is a dog for you!
