RJ FINALLY GETS HIS CHANCE!

RJ waiting for the train to Maine:)

It has been a long time coming - but sweet RJ finally has his chance at a new beginning!

RJ came to PAWS at the beginning of the summer. His owner had adopted him as a pup from the Marion Animal Shelter. Five years later she was forced to give him up when she lost her home. We just could not stand to see this sweet boy go back to the shelter.

After months in foster care - RJ left on transport last Friday to go to rescue in New England.

These pictures were taken while he was waiting for the transport. What a sweet big lug! We sure will miss him but know that he is on his way to a second chance at a wonderful life.

MISS MAGGIE IS STILL IN NEED OF A FOSTER HOME

Sweet Maggie is still waiting for a foster home to call her own - can you help?

She is in a temporary foster home where she lives with multiple dogs but due to her heartworm status (positive) she needs a quieter foster home where someone is home more of the time so that she can undergo treatment.

Without being able to go through Heartworm treatment - Maggie is in limbo between her old life and her new beginning. Please help her move forward to her chance at a forever home!

Maggie is a sweet natured girl - approximately 1 year old. She gets along well with the other dogs in her temporary foster but would do best in a foster home without small breed dogs.

If you have the love in your heart and room in your home to help Miss Maggie. Please email

LOOK AT HER NOW! ZOEY UPDATE

Zoey - a happy, healthy girl!

A few weeks back - Zoey came into our lives and rescue. She showed up at someone's door, malnourished, with scars on her back and nowhere to go. That doggie angel called us for help.

We had no foster for her and no prospects for adoption or rescue - but PAWS volunteer, Leanne, just could not leave Zoey out in the world to fend for herself. Something about Zoey touched her - she knew that this was a special girl.

Despite a house full - and no way to know if Zoey would get along with the other dogs in residence - Leanne brought Zoey home to foster care and safety. Along with the help of her mom, Lisa, they have nursed Zoey back to health.

In return - Zoey has exceeded all expectations. She has turned her back on her horrible beginnings and embraced her new life.

Leanne reports:

Zoey is one of the sweetest dogs ever. She loves to give kisses and loves to lie with me on the couch all day when I do homework. She loves everyone she meets!

She weighs about 30lbs but the vet thinks she should weigh about 45lbs when she is filled in.

She is doing well with all of the other dogs. Her and Zac, the dobie puppy are best friends!

The best news is that Zoey has tested NEGATIVE for Heartworm!

Please spread the word about this sweet and resilient pup. Zoey IS a very special girl - she deserves a very special home.

UPDATE ON ROSIE!

We just received the below update on Rosie (now "Ms. Lily") from her new mom! Rosie was adopted locally to a wonderful home that she now shares with her big brother, Jack.

Ms. Rosie has become Ms. Lily.

After you left her she and Jack got acquainted and bonded within two hours. They love each other so much! They are inseparable.

Ms. Lily is very smart. She learned within two days, sit, down, lay down, shake and no. She has learned that when we go upstairs to go to sleep that it is not time to play but to sleep.

She is so full of energy and so very happy. She loves all of her toys and likes to watch TV. Especially when there are animals on it.

I took her to the vet for her next shots and did not take Jack. He was so worried. When I brought her home he kissed her all over her face!!!!!

The vet says this is the sweetest dog he has ever seen and very healthy. She has grown to 23 pounds and her hair is starting to grow and have a wave to it.

Thank you so much for bringing me my sweet Ms. Lily.
