FOUR RESCUED PUPS NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
As many of our regular followers know, we have a HUGE issue in this part of the world with Heartworm disease. Approximately 95% of the dogs we rescue that are one year old or above test positive for this disease. Treatment is very expensive and difficult on the dog, but the disease can be deadly if left untreated, so treatment is critical.
PAWS currently has four Heartworm positive dogs that are in need of treatment. The cost of treating all four will be $1600.00 (+/-). Please consider donating to help the following four dogs receive the life-saving treatment they need and deserve.
Ellie aka Wiggles. Ellie was found as a stray out in "the County" after she wandered up to an elderly lady's house. Ellie was in such bad shape and the heartworms has already caused damage when we found her that she would faint when she got excited or did too much. Ellie has been on heartworm prevention and Doxycycline to lessen her risk of undergoing treatment, and she is now ready for the actual heartworm treatment.

Dempsey
was found as a stray with his friend who has already been adopted.
Dempsey is now ready for his heartworm treatment so he can find his
forever home.
Tucker
was found as a stray in Crawfordsville after he had been hanging around
a gas station for a couple of days. People called us because they were afraid he was going
to get hit by a car. Tucker is a great guy who once he is treated will
be ready for his forever home.
Riley
was abandoned when her left her and her puppies behind after he moved
away. Riley's puppies have gone to rescue and she is waiting for treatment so that she can have her
turn at a new beginning.
Please help these pups move onto new loving homes by donating to their much-needed Heartworm treatment. THANK YOU!

PLEASE SAVE CROSBY!
![]() |
| How cute am I? Please rescue me! |
CROSBY is in urgent need of your help!
We need to find Crosby a new foster home or a forever home ASAP. He is currently in foster with multiple dogs BUT he needs to be an only pet. As a result, Crosby is isolated/separated and being kenneled way too much. It is not fair to him at all. We need your help!
If a new place for him is not found soon we are going to have to make the tough decision to euthanize him because his quality of life is not what it should be. Please no negative comments because this is something we do not want to do but we have to do what is best for Crosby. So please share his picture and story far and wide in hopes someone will think he is the perfect fit for their family.
ABOUT CROSBY
Crosby is an ADORABLE Basset Hound/Boxer mix with maybe a little Lab in there. He weighs around 55lbs. Crosby is around two years old but still acts like a big puppy.
Crosby, who was named after Bing Crosby, was found right before Christmas where he had been living in a duck blind for about a month.
Crosby loves people, loves to go for walks, ride in the car, and play fetch.
He is a very sweet guy but he has to be an only dog, being out in his own for so long he does not share with other dogs very well. He will also need a home with older kids because he might accidentally knock down a small child.
Crosby is neutered, up to date on his shots, housebroken, crate trained, and heartworm negative. He is a GREAT dog for a home with no other pets. Please help us to help him! Share!

MACY: HOME SWEET HOME
![]() |
| Macy is Home at Last! |
Macy now lives the life that every dog dreams of, with a retired, doting dad, a bossy little canine "sister" (Annie) to patrol and play with, and a huge fenced in yard with sand pit just for dog digging pleasure.
Here are some happy dog pictures of Macy in her forever home in Maine.
![]() |
| Taking a nap on Dad's bed |

| Hunting Squirrels with my sis |
"It's been almost a year since Macy came home for good, and I thought you might like to know she's doing great. We've made so much progress that I find it difficult to remember the dog who made me wonder if I was going to be able to get her inside. New situations still make her wary, she's still frightened of gunshots and fireworks, and I wouldn't trust her to make good decisions in a situation where she was frightened, but other than that (and those things could be said about a good many dogs) she's pretty normal. Well, as normal as a herder with a wry sense of humor can be.
![]() |
| Been digging in the sand pit |
On the whole, she's incredibly polite, well behaved, and usually comes when called (Is there a squirrel involved? Am I in trouble? Then she's not so quick to respond.)
She's made friends with the fire/rescue workers on our walks, has a boyfriend in Zane, another border collie on our walk route, and is simply a joy to have here.
Yes, she's a successful rescue. Thank you all."
HUGE thank you to Susan and her family for fostering and caring for MACY for PAWS for years while she waited for her forever home. Thank you all for supporting our rescue efforts to help dogs like Macy. It takes a village to save each dog that comes through our doors.
Macy is just one of the many long term residents we care for here at PAWS. Even in perfect health, caring for a foster dog for two years is VERY expensive - and as you all know, it is a rarity for us to ever get a dog that is in perfect health!

PLEASE HELP ADDIE - ANOTHER THROW AWAY DOG
Say "Hello" to Addie.
Addie is a 2-3 year old Lab mix who has been in our rescue for almost two years. Addie was left behind like garbage or an unwanted chair when her owners moved. She is one of many throw away dogs that PAWS helps.
As is the case with most adult dogs that come through our rescue, Addie has tested positive for Heartworm and needs to be treated. Her treatment will cost $245.00. Please consider donating $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 towards her treatment. Every little bit helps.
Addie is a very sweet girl who deserves her chance at a good health and a loving home.
Thank you for helping her!

MISS MAGGIE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
Maggie is one of those dogs in our rescue that keeps getting overlooked for adoption - despite the fact that she is one of the best dogs ever!
This sweet four year old girl was surrendered to us in JANUARY 2013 because her family no longer wanted her...She was heartworm positive of course - but has been successfully treated.
Maggie is affectionate, house trained, crate trained, gets along with other dogs of all sizes. She is a total sweetheart who is content laying on the couch all day or going for a walk. She is such a doll, it breaks our hearts that nobody has shown any interest in adopting her.
Sadly - Maggie needs your help today as we have just discovered a growth on one of her paws that needs to be removed and sent out for biopsy. The cost of this surgery is $300.
Please consider donating $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 today to help Maggie get the surgery she needs.
And please SHARE her story widely - to help her raise the needed funds AND to help her find the loving home she deserves for the holidays.
Thank you all for caring and for supporting our ongoing rescue efforts.

SWEET SADIE THE SURVIVOR
![]() |
| Sweet Sadie needs your help! |
Most of you have been following Sadie's story on our facebook page - but for those of you that have not met her yet....here is her story.
In April, PAWS received the following email:
"A dog wondered on to our lawn. She's a cocker spaniel, well kept but thin due to weight loss. Very well mannered. My husband says we cannot keep her even for a couple of days. Can I bring her to you? If not, do you know anyone who will take her?"
![]() |
| Sadie the day she was rescued |
That dog was Sadie. Turns out, she was not well kept. most likely abandoned, age estimated about 10 years old, poor eye sight, diminished hearing, matted coat and VERY thin. Poor thing - who knows how long she was wandering around on her own?
Despite being full (as usual), PAWS volunteers, Lisa and Leanne took Sadie into their home.
A trip to the vet revealed that Sadie was suffering from mammary gland tumors, resulting from never being spayed, and was also heartworm positive. She was coughing which could either be from the heartworms or from mammary tumors being cancerous and spreading into the lungs. Either way, not much could be done, as Sadie could not withstand surgery, anesthesia or traditional heartworm treatment.
Being the rescuers they are, Lisa and Leanne decided to provide Sadie with a safe, loving home for as long as she lived.
Well...turns out, with love, good food, and basic medical care, Sadie has come back to life! Her lungs are miraculously clear, she is no longer coughing and the vet feels she is a good candidate for surgery to remove the mammary gland tumors! This is incredibly good news.

| Sadie today:) |
Now we need YOUR HELP! The estimate for Sadie's blood work, tumor removal and biopsy is $1300. Please consider donating via the button below to help Sadie get the chance at the longer, healthier life she deserves! She is such a fighter and has amazed us all with her will to survive and her love of life.
Please help us to help her.

CAN YOU HELP BABE? SWEET SENIOR NEEDS YOU TODAY!
![]() |
| Babe needs your help! |
BABE is a sensitive 7-year old, male, Black Lab mix that is in urgent need of a loving retirement home. His family is heartbroken to have to give Babe up after rescuing, rehabilitating and falling in love with him.
Babe is good with other dogs and cats, but should go to an adult-only home. He would be the perfect companion for a retired person!
Please read and share Babe's story to help him find a real forever home, where he will be loved and cherished.
Here is what Babe's family wrote about him:
Just over three years ago we acquired Babe through my in-laws, who acquired him from another couple. They only had him for a month before my father-in-law passed away and he then moved in with our family. They had been told that Babe was a black lab mix who was 4 years of age and had been a companion for an elderly lady.
At first, Babe was a very moody dog, wanted to be left alone, wary dog, that was quick to growl or snap at anyone who came by him. We wanted to give him a chance to see, if it was possible, with a different environment he would change.
After 3, very long months, of kindness, love, and patience he did change and boy what a change it was.
He has turned into a dog who craves attention, is always underfoot and is my constant shadow, loves to be petted and played with. He now believes he is a lap dog and your sleeping partner, if you allow him to that is. Babe loves to go for walks and car rides, especially car rides. Plays catch, although doesn't always bring the ball back, but still loves to run after it.
Babe does listen very well, but I will admit he has a stubborn streak at times. If he wants to lie down right by you and you ask him to lie down someplace else he may not always listen right away. It is one of his many quirks that we love about him.
He is crate trained and will stay in one, but we give our dogs full rein of the home. He is house trained and does not get destructive. However, we do have to leave the bathroom door closed as he tends to get into the trash. He is fine with the kitchen trash, something about the toilet paper in the bathroom he just loves.
For whatever reason, we cannot put Babe into a room with the door closed for any length of time, without our being in the room with him. When we have tried in the past by putting him in the garage or laundry room, he destroyed the door frame and door knob trying to get out. This also goes with leaving him outside for any length of time. He is fine being left alone in the home with free reign or with being crated.
Now for the negative about our precious boy that has made our decision to find him a new loving home. In the past he had snapped at our son on many different occasions and scenarios, but seemed to have grown out of it. Unfortunately,Babe has been up to his antics again over the past couple months with our 9 year old son again.
Our son tends to move quickly so we thought maybe this was the cause and decided to just try to teach our son to not go near Babe unless he moved slowly and spoke to him first. This seemed to be working, until today. We have a 7 month old daughter and today he tried snapping at her.
So with a heavy heart we realized it was time to find Babe a new home without children. One that would love him as much as we do and appreciate him for all the love he is willing to give someone else.
He can take awhile to warm up to someone, but we have people in and out of our home and he has never tried snapping or growling at any of them.
He is good with other dogs, loves them, and seemed to be fine with cats as well.
We hope Babe is able to find a new forever home that can give him all the love and attention this wonderful boy deserves.
If you have love in your heart and room in your home for Babe, please email marionangels@yahoo.com, or complete our online application:

SHEPHERD LOVERS - JASPER NEEDS YOUR HELP!
![]() |
| Jasper needs a foster home! |
His rescuer took him to the vet, treated the fleas and infection, vaccinated him, and has nursed him back to health. Unfortunately, due do her own health issues, she is not able to hold onto Jasper through his Heartworm treatment. As a result, PAWS has been asked to find a foster home for this handsome boy where he can undergo Heartworm treatment and then move on to the loving FOREVER home that he deserves. Can you help?
It takes two months for a dog to complete treatment. He needs a foster home where he will live inside and one where he is not left alone for long periods of time.
PAWS will cover the expenses for all of his medical needs as well as food and anything else this boy may require while he is on the mend.
A little about Jasper: He is approximately 2-3 years old, and currently weighs weighs 60 lbs. He gets along well with other dogs and currently peacefully shares his space with four children. Jasper likes to cuddle and considers himself a lapdog:) He sounds like a true find for someone who loves German Shepherds.
Please help us to help Jasper find his way to a new beginning and a happy ending!

PLEASE HELP OUR PUPS GET TO RESCUE!
![]() |
| Macy says "Help me get to Maine!" |
If we can pull this off, it would greatly diminish the overload on our small number of foster homes and enable us to help more dogs in urgent need.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! This number of dogs/crates will not fit in our mini-van, so we need to rent a cargo van to transport these lucky PAWS pups to Virginia next weekend where we will meet up with our rescue partners. The cost to rent a cargo van is $350! PLEASE help by donating towards the van rental. Even $5, $10 will help.
As a small, private non-profit rescue, we rely 100% on the generosity of fellow animal lovers to support our never-ending efforts on behalf of the unwanted and abandoned dogs in our area.

ABANDONED, MALNOURISHED PUPPIES NEED YOUR HELP!
![]() |
| J Pup - Jameson |
Although they look sad, sickly and pitiful in these pictures, the "J-Pups" are some of the lucky ones - as they have now been rescued! Die-hard PAWS volunteers, Lisa and Leanne coaxed these scared babies from an abandoned house. They were covered in ticks, malnourished, missing hair, and probably would not have lasted much longer on their own.
Now these adorable puppies are safe in foster care, and hopefully, will soon be on their way to a new beginning and loving forever homes...but they need YOUR help!
Rescuing puppies that are in this condition takes money! On top of basic vaccines, spay/neuter, etc, they will need lots of de-worming, and possible treatment for Demodex.... not to mention, a lot of high-grade puppy food.
Please help us, to help the J-Pups find their way back to health and into true forever homes. Donate TODAY! Even $5.00, $10.00 is GREATLY appreciated.
As a small, private non-profit rescue, we rely 100% on the generosity of fellow animal lovers to support our never-ending efforts on behalf of the unwanted and abandoned dogs in our area.

FOUR DESERVING DOGS NEED YOUR HELP!
PAWS has four wonderful dogs in rescue right now that really need your help. Like most of the dogs over 7 months old that come to us searching for love and families -- Arlo, Addie, Maggie and Sarah have all tested positive for Heartworm disease. This a common disease in this area - but one that can be deadly if not treated.
We cannot send these wonderful pups off to new homes or rescues without treating them for Heartworm first.
As a small, privately run rescue, we depend solely on donation from our dedicated supporters to give our pups the medical care they deserve and require. Heartworm treatment ranges from $300 - $400 per dog depending on weight. This is a huge expense for our small rescue.
Please help us to help Arlo, Addie, Maggie and Sarah to find their way to a new beginning by donating to their treatment. Even $5.00, $10.00 will help a great deal!
Arlo was found as a stray wandering around all by himself. Arlo is around a year old. Arlo is very sweet and loves kids, cats, and other dogs. Arlo does not meet a stranger. Arlo is a typical 1 year old lab who loves to play but he also loves to lay with you on the couch.
Addie is a 1.5 year old Yellow Lab mix. Addie was left behind when her owners moved. Addie is a very sweet girl and she walks well on a leash. Addie is doing great with the other dogs in her foster home and she loves kids.

Sarah is an 8 month old border collie mix. She was rescued from an abandoned house where she was living all alone except when someone would come by to feed her. She is very sweet and is still very much a puppy. She has been around small dogs and did great with them.
