GREAT NEW PICTURE OF JADEA!

hmmmm - which dog bed will I choose today?

Many of you remember Jadea - the gentle Coonhound who came to us over a year ago a broken dog. Well look at her now! Who would have guessed?

Despite her difficult journey of recovery and healing - Jadea always maintained a positive attitude and showed nothing but love for the many humans who helped her along the way.

After spending many months with us going through surgeries and recoveries - Jadea headed to rescue. She has now officially been adopted by a woman who works at Planet Dog. She has a canine sister and gets to accompany her mom to work every day!

Needless to say - we could not have asked for a happier ending for Jadea. She is on her way to being one spoiled girl - which is exactly what she deserves!

It took a village of people and thousands of dollars to give Jadea her happy ending - we need your help!

WHY DOESN'T ANYONE WANT OXFORD?

Oxford - sweet beagle boy looking for love

This is Oxford - One of the sweetest dogs that has ever come through our rescue.

This poor boy has been waiting since August 2008 for his forever home - and we cannot figure out why. Thankfully, his foster mom, Bobbie, has been so patient - despite the fact that she runs her own sanctuary and has limited space.

Oxford may not be a cute, young pup - but he also does not bring to the table all of the bad habits of a cute young pup. He is house trained, calm, loving, not destructive and content to hang out on the couch with his person.

Oxford LOVES to go for walks and gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home.

He is full of personality - if he finds his water bowl empty - he will not bark - but will rattle the bowl around with his paw and look at you until you take the hint!

He would make a wonderful family dog or a companion for a retiree.

He does have an underactive thyroid which requires very that he take a pill once a day. The medication is inexpensive if ordered on line.

Oxford is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm negative.

This boy has been in limbo long enough. He deserves a chance at his very own family.

If you have the love in your heart and room in your home for Oxford, please send us an email:

LOOK AT MOMMA SIDNEY NOW!

Some of you regular followers of this blog probably remember Sidney. She came to us skinny, heartworm positive and with a litter of puppies.

Sidney's puppies went onto new lives, but poor Sidney had to stay behind until she completed Heartworm treatment.

After months and months, Sidney finally had her chance to shine. Thank you to generous sponsors, foster parents and a wonderful rescue - She is now living the life a Husky should - in Maine!

The above picture is of Sidney with her new "brother" Bo - watching the world go by.

Happy trails Sidney! Hope to hear from you again when the snow starts blowing!

THURSDAY WAS INDEPENDENCE DAY FOR THESE PUPS

Eight lucky mixed breed pups celebrated Independence Day a little early on Thursday.

After being rescued from the Marion Animal Shelter and spending a month in foster care - Abbott, Atlas, Braden, Hannah, Alexis, Mackenzie, Macy and Melissa headed off to their new lives via PETS transport yesterday.

We are so thankful to our rescue partner in New England for finding wonderful adoptive homes for these puppies that went unnoticed in our shelter. We look forward to receiving updates of them enjoying their new lives!

RESCUERS COME IN ALL SHAPES & SIZES - A VISIT FROM RESCUE INK

Rescue Ink visits Marion, AR

Animal rescuers come in all shapes and sizes...from young children...to giant men!

Speaking of giant men - PAWS volunteers, Leanne and Lisa, were honored to be invited to the Marion Animal Shelter last week to meet some of the guys from Rescue Ink - "the Army for the Animals."

Having these gentle giants take time out of their busy rescue schedules to stop by our small corner of the dog world is inspiring and helps to keep us focused on our mission to save as many forgotten dogs as we can handle.

Thank you Rescue Ink for all the great work and for caring about animals everywhere!

ANIMAL RESCUERS IN TRAINING...

Future Rescuers - Will, Reed & Emma

This past week we were fortunate to send three unwanted black puppies (Tink, Rambo and Nash) to rescue via our favorite tranporter - PETS. Being black, mixed breed pups - these cuties had little chance of making it out of the shelter - which makes their departure to new lives just that much more rewarding.

We had some help on transport day from "rescuers-in-training" Will, Reed and Emma.

These young animal advocates also helped with the pups while they were in foster care - getting them socialized with children which will make the pups more adoptable once in rescue.

THE APOLOGY

The "Apology" Video

A rescue friend sent us this video today - it says it all. People always ask us why a dog was given up or why the dog was left at the shelter, on the side of the road, on a chain. There is still a misconception that rescue dogs or shelter dogs must have something wrong with them - that is why the ended up homeless.

Of course - that is not the case. As many of us know - the problem generally lies with the humans not the dogs. The dogs just want to be loved and will be loyal to you no matter how badly you treat them. Any behavioral issues are so often the result of a dog's experience with the humans that promised to take care of him.

Please enjoy the video and pass along so other might benefit.

Please make a difference in a forgotten dog's life. Help a rescue dog have a happy ending.
