BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE

Rockin' Rosie

This week we also received a call from one of our foster parents - who found ANOTHER puppy (and, of course, took her home.)

Meet Rosie! Rosie is a 15 week old Border collie/Lab mix. She is awfully cute - don't you think?

Further investigation revealed that Rosie was one of a larger litter that was dumped. Nobody knows what happened to the rest of her siblings - they just disappeared. We can only pray that some other like-minded souls picked them up and took them to safety.

Although Rosie is currently in a foster home - the other female dog in the home is NOT good with other female dogs. As a result - we REALLY need to find a new indoor foster home for sweet Rosie to keep her safe and happy until a forever home or rescue is found for her.

Please help this abandoned, resilient pup! Add some puppy karma to your life by emailing marionangels@yahoo.com!

EGADS - MORE PUPPIES!

Eli - one of the new additions...

It has been awhile since our last update - I bet you all have been wondering what we have been up to (ha ha). Taking some time off to enjoy the summer maybe? NOPE.

Just the usual - running around picking up puppies on the side of the road...sigh.

Here are the newest pups...

We received a call last weekend about four puppies playing on Broadway, which is the busiest street in West Memphis. We caught two the night of the call and we went back in the morning to discover that their "people" were just giving them away so we took the other two.

The pups were living in grass that was at least three feet high and they had no water. They were covered in fleas and 2 of them are a little skinny, but are gaining fast. They are about 4-5 months old, they still have all of their puppy teeth. We are guessing that they are Shepherd/Retriever mixes. They have some BIG feet on them, the biggest probably weighs around 25lbs.

As usual - we have no indoor foster space available - so these pups are also living outside. The good news is that we have possible adopters for two out of the four. BIG paws crossed.

But if anyone can find it in their hearts to foster the remaining two - please send us an email - mariongangels@yahoo.com. They are very sweet pups and ohhhh so cute! They have had their first set of shots and flea/tick prevention.

CHIEF - ANOTHER HAPPY UPDATE!

Chief is another PAWS alumni who originated at the Marion Animal Shelter. He came to us in 2008 - and was fostered by wonderful "Uncle Joe" who always steps up when one of our dogs has no place else to go.

Like many of our pups - Chief headed to New England in search of his forever family. He obviously found a great one! Here is the latest update:

Jack (formerly "Chief") is doing great!

We’ve had him for just 2 years now and we still aren’t sure just who is luckier – him or us.

He has tons of dog friends in the neighborhood who we walk with everyday. His favorite thing (other than being with us) is chasing squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits. He creeps to the sliding glass door each time he goes into that room, hoping one is waiting just on the other side. It’s very funny.

We call him our Blab because he looks and seems like a cross between a lab and beagle.

People are always amazed that he is a rescue (or re-homed!) dog because he really has no issues or baggage whatsoever. We got lucky. So did he.

Here’s a cute pic from Halloween. So many words have Jack in them so we just had to celebrate our little Jack O’Lantern!

Regards,

Meredyth

What a great update! Reminds us why we do what we do - and we could not do it with out all of you.

BLAST FROM THE PAST!

We recently received the below update on Jane - a former PAWS pup!

Jane came to PAWS in 2008 after her time was "up" at the Marion Animal Shelter.

After some time in foster care here - Jane headed North to find her forever family. Almost three years later - Jane is happy, healthy and much loved by her adoptive family!

Janie is doing well. She loves squeeky stuffed animals and playing ball. When she is inside she has a favorite chair in the dining room where she will lay with her chin on the window sill looking out at the birds at the feeder and the squirrels underneath it. We are very happy with her. The picture I am sending is of her lounging on a Sunday afternoon after she has finished reading the paper. Actually if we leave a chair pulled out she will get up on the table and there are 5 windows she can look out. The other picture is her dining room position watching the birds.

PS She snores!!

Steve - Thank you for giving Jane such a wonderful home!

SNO CONE SUNDAY!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Wal-Mart yesterday to buy a sno cone! We raised a little over $300 - which brings us that much closer to our fund-raising goal to vet the puppies!

A special "thank you" to Rachel who traveled all of the way from Collierville to get a sno cone and to donate $100 in the name of the rescue puppies. That really meant a great deal to us.

Thank you for helping us find loving families!

NEW PICTURES OF THE "SHED PUPPIES"

Check out the new pictures of the "Shed Puppies!" Aren't they adorable???

Sadly, these pups are STILL living outside in the heat as no indoor foster homes have stepped up to help. Yes - they have a pool and some fans - but it is still too hot for these pups to be outside 24/7. They really need loving indoor foster homes. Can you help or know someone who can? Give Leanne a call at 901-489-2470.

Thank you so much to the doggie angels that have chipped in for the vetting for some of these pups. We have raised some towards our goal and are extremely grateful - but still have a long ways to go to fully pay for the vetting of all of these pups.

We spay/neuter, de-worm, and provide 2-3 rounds of vaccines (depending on age) prior to adoption or sending a dog to rescue. Not to even mention the amount food it takes to feed litters of growing puppies:) Please spread the word and chip-in if you can!

Am I cute or what???

I am a multi-tasker - I can swim & drink at the same time.

Cooling our butts with the fans

Please foster us! We want air-conditioning.

Thank you for caring about our pups! Without you all - we can not rescue the pups that desperately need our help.

FUN AT FREEDOM FEST!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and indulged in a snow cone at Freedom Fest! We had a BLAST and raised a few dollars as well to help with our rescue puppies vet expenses.

Kudos to PAWS volunteers, Lisa, Leanne, Terri and Leslie for putting together such a great fundraiser!

Here are a few fireworks pictures for those of you who were unable to attend.

Happy Independence Day!

THEY JUST KEEP ON COMING...

Meet Maggie!

No matter how hard we try - we just cannot seem to stop the flow of dogs coming into our rescue...

PAWS volunteers Lisa and Leanne were driving out to de-worm one of the litters of puppies (that are STILL living outside and in need of foster homes) when they came upon Maggie - running down the side of the road.

If you are in rescue (or even if you are not) it is impossible to see a stray dog running on the road - in sweltering heat - and not stop.

So, of course, Lisa and Leanne stopped the car. Maggie, of course, was thrilled to see them and jumped right into the car.

Oh yeah...we don't have any open foster homes! Oops. It is amazing how that challenge just eludes us when there is a dog in immediate need....

Anyway - we would LOVE it if someone could foster Maggie. She is about one year old. Very sweet girl. Seems to do well with other dogs. We do not know her heartworm status yet - but will post as soon as we do.

I am really sweet! Give me a chance!

If you are interested in fostering Maggie, or a litter of puppies...or... Please email
marionangels@yahoo.com.

LILLY IS ON HER WAY!

Miss Lilly is on her way to a new life

Lilly is a sweet Black Lab mix pup that found her way into our rescue a few months ago. We are happy to report that she left yesterday heading to New England to start her new life!

Being a black dog, Lilly had very little chance of adoption here - as for whatever reason - black dogs are overlooked especially larger breed black dogs.

In New England, Lilly will be able to find a loving home and hopefully spend many hours romping, exploring and maybe even swimming!

Thank you to Susan for fostering this sweetie and also to Leslie for coming out to transport to take pictures of Lilly's departure!

Happy trails Lilly!
