MORE PUPPIES IN NEED OF YOUR HELP!

Aaron

Here is our second litter of holiday puppies - the "A" pups! These pups are about 6 weeks old and weigh 5+/- lbs.

There are 5 boys, Alex, Austin, Aiden, Andy, and Aaron. There are 3 girls, Allie, Anna, and Amy.

The family that contacted us about this litter wishes to keep the momma dog. However - as she has already given birth to three litters - we will be spaying the momma dog to ensure that this trend does not continue.

These cuties are also living outside in the cold. Again, we are in desperate need of foster homes for these pups to keep them warm and safe until they are old enough to find rescue and/or adoptive homes.

If you are able to help by fostering the "A" puppies - please complete our foster application.

In addition to foster homes - we urgently help with vetting expenses for both Momma dogs and the 17 puppies. We estimate that the vaccines, de-worming, spay/neuters and heartworm testing (for the moms) will cost approximately $150 per dog.

Please Chip-In to help these pups find a home for the holiday!

Thank you for supporting our rescue efforts!

HOLIDAY PUPPIES NEED YOUR HELP!

Barrett

It is feast or famine around here! Right now we are up to our ears in puppies that need your help! We have received requests to help two litters of puppies - 17 puppies total.

Both litters are currently living outside in the cold and urgently need indoor foster homes to keep them warm and safe until they are old enough to go to rescue and adoptive homes.

This litter we are calling the "B" pups.

Momma dog, Bailey, looks like a full blooded Lab. She wandered up to a house a stray and proceeded to give birth to these 9 cuties. We are also looking for a foster home for Bailey - as she is a gorgeous, sweet girl, who also deserves to be rescued.

Beautiful Bailey is looking for a foster home!

Bailey's puppies are around 6 weeks old and they weigh approximately 10lbs.

There are 5 girls, Bella, Bonnie, Brittany, Beth, and Brooke. There are 4 boys, Bobby, Beckett, Barrett, and Brennon. They are lab mixes.

LOOK AT BUDDY NOW!

Last month we posted that Buddy headed North to find his forever family. We knew he would be a big hit in New England (being the handsome Lab that he is!) These pictures are of Buddy and his foster family in New England. Doesn't he look great?

We received word this week that Buddy has found his forever family. Here is the update they sent in:

We just want to say thank you for taking care of Buddy and for doing all of the great work that you do. He's is such a perfect dog and we're so happy that we found him.

He's had a busy day and is having a good long sleep right now. He slept for most of the way home, went for a long walk when we got here, met some dog friends along the bike path, and has already met some our neighbors. He's such a handsome boy and he's a pure gentleman - everybody loves him!!

The girls must have made a great impression - he just LOVES kids :-)

We will send you updates along the way on how he is doing.

Thanks again,

Barbara & Steve

Thank you to Terri for fostering Buddy through Heartworm treatment and to our rescue partners in New England for finding Buddy such a great home!

UPDATE ON JADEA - A MIRACLE PUP!

Jadea going for a romp on the beach

Most of you probably will not remember Jadea - she came to PAWS several years ago - a broken dog.

Jadea was found on the side of the expressway, starving, lifeless and completely broken. No one knows how long she laid out there on the side of the road suffering and starving. Jadea was emaciated beyond belief, she heartworm positive, infested with intestinal parasites, she had rips in both her ears, scars and cuts all over and to top it off she had a crushed pelvis and broken femur. Treatment had to wait on her broken bones for over a week because she was too unstable to operate on. Her surgeries had to be split up because there was so much damage. Both hips had to be repaired and have screws placed to secure both. She also had to have her femur plated to hold it together.

She had a long and painful recovery - but at the end of it all, she found her way to a wonderful home in Maine!

As you can see from these pictures, Jadea has since had one of her legs amputated and uses a wheelchair to help her run and play. Obviously, these challenges have not negatively impacted her quality of life at all!

The pictures make all of the pain and recovery time worthwhile. Jadea is a survivor and never lets her injuries or past mistreatment hold her back from enjoying life. We all can learn a lesson in life from this sweet girl.

We are so thankful that Jadea has found an incredible family that loves her for her beautiful soul and gentle demeanor.

Happy trails Jadea!

Ben and Leo flew to Maine in 2009 on a private chartered plane (along with several other lucky pups) to their new home with Anita and Brad.

Read their amazing rescue story

Thank you to Brad & Anita for keeping adopting both Ben & Leo and for giving them such a wonderful home.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MANDY?

I am waiting for you! When are you coming to get me?

Mandy is STILL here with us - waiting patiently for her chance at a forever home of her own. Mandy came to PAWS with her sister, Chloe, in 2009!!! They both had litters of puppies and both were treated for Heartworm disease. All the puppies went off to rescue. Chloe was fortunate to head off to rescue in New England as well where she is now reunited and sharing her home with one of her puppies!

Sadly - Mandy stayed behind - as she tested positive for Heartworm again! Poor Mandy had to undergo Heartworm treatment a second time. It is such a difficult treatment - but Mandy came through like a champ on both occasions.

NOW it is Mandy's turn for a home. She is healthy, heartworm negative and so deserving of a family to call her own.

Mandy is living with multiple other dogs. She is housetrained, and a cuddler (as you can tell from these pictures.)

Being foster care is fine for awhile - but every dog deserves the love and attention of their very own family. Please help Mandy to find her happy ending.

Look - I know how to wave at the camera!

Aren't I gorgeous?

HAPPY TRAILS FOR THE "B" PUPS!

Boone

You may not know about the "B" Puppies (aka "The Proctor Boys")- as they were rescued and quickly spoken for by one of our rescue partners. As a result, you all did not have to endure lots of begging and pleading for foster homes and funds from us for these cuties:)

Boone, Blake, Billy and Baxter all left on transport last weekend to New England where they are sure find loving families!

A special thanks to Reefie & Mike Marconi, Misty & Jill, and Colleen & John Criner for all of their hard work and help saving the Proctor Boys. In this case it really took a village to save these guys, even complete strangers stepped up to help save these pups!

You can read the story of the Proctor Boys' rescue on Jill Denton's Blog:

HOORAY FOR BUDDY BOY!

You all may remember Buddy - his mug was the profile picture on the PAWS Facebook page for many months.

Buddy was rescued by one of our foster parent's when he was found wandering in front of someone's car. He is just the sweetest boy - it is amazing that nobody ever came looking for him. Perhaps he is a former hunting dog that was not good at his job, as he loves all four-legged and two-legged animals.
Buddy was with us for quite sometime as he tested positive for Heartworm disease and had to undergo treatment before he could be considered for adoption.

The good news is that Buddy's wait paid off! Last week he headed to our partner rescue in New England - where we are sure that he will have families fighting over who gets to take this gorgeous hunk home.

We are looking forward to sharing updates and pictures from Buddy's new family!

Thank you to Terri for fostering Buddy and to our friends up North for helping to find this special boy a home that will cherish him.

LURCH & MAGGIE - TWO SWEET PUPS NEED YOUR HELP

Lurch is such a love - please help him!

We have two heartworm positive pups who desperately need your help to find their way to a new beginning.

Pup number one is LURCH - a 1.5 year old Bassett Hound mix. Poor Lurch was found as a stray by a good Samaritan. She took him in and brought him to the vet to check for a microchip and update his shots. Of course no microchip was found.

The story becomes more tangled - as Lurch's rescuer recalled seeing an ad for re-homing him on craiglist a few weeks prior. She located the ad and called Lurch's previous owner who said that she had given him away. Lurch's new family was then contacted - they responded "we don't want him any more." So perhaps Lurch was dumped - and not intentionally wandering..Poor poor pup.

This boy is so sweet! It seems crazy that he has been dumped over and over again in such a short time. Lurch is currently living with a Rottweiler and a mini Dachshund and fitting in well! Please help us to help him find his way to a new beginning and better humans. Chip-in today!

Pup number two is MAGGIE.

Poor Maggie was by one of our foster homes running down the side of the road this summer.

Of course they could not leave her there in the heat, so when they stopped Maggie came right up to them and jumped in the car.

Maggie is only around a year old - but of course she has tested positive for heartworm disease.

She needs your help to fund her treatment so that she may get the chance at a new life that she deserves.

Please help Miss Maggie find her new beginning - chip in and share her story far and wide.

Thank you for caring about our pups!
