FOUR RESCUED PUPS NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

As many of our regular followers know, we have a HUGE issue in this part of the world with Heartworm disease.  Approximately 95% of the dogs we rescue that are one year old or above test positive for this disease.  Treatment is very expensive and difficult on the dog, but the disease can be deadly if left untreated, so treatment is critical.
PAWS currently has four Heartworm positive dogs that are in need of treatment.  The cost of treating all four will be $1600.00 (+/-).  Please consider donating to help the following four dogs receive the life-saving treatment they need and deserve.

Ellie aka Wiggles. Ellie was found as a stray out in "the County" after she wandered up to an elderly lady's house. Ellie was in such bad shape and the heartworms has already caused damage when we found her that she would faint when she got excited or did too much. Ellie has been on heartworm prevention and Doxycycline to lessen her risk of undergoing treatment,  and she is now ready for the actual heartworm treatment.

Dempsey was found as a stray with his friend who has already been adopted. Dempsey is now ready for his heartworm treatment so he can find his forever home.

Tucker was found as a stray in Crawfordsville after he had been hanging around a gas station for a couple of days. People called us because they were afraid he was going to get hit by a car. Tucker is a great guy who once he is treated will be ready for his forever home.

Riley was abandoned when her left her and her puppies behind after he moved away. Riley's puppies have gone to rescue and she is waiting for treatment so that she can have her turn at a new beginning.

Please help these pups move onto new loving homes by donating to their much-needed Heartworm treatment.  THANK YOU!

CHECK OUT OUR COOL TRANSPORT VAN!

We are SO LUCKY and THANKFUL for our new, very cool-looking van!  PAWS of Marion was the recipient of a grant from the ASPCA which allowed us to purchase a new van AND dress it up so that we can not only SAVE MORE DOGS but people will know there is a life-saving rescue mission underway when they see us drive by. We are so excited and honored to receive this grant.

HUGE "thank you" goes out to the ASPCA for believing in and supporting our small but determined rescue.  Additionally we are very appreciative of the incredible job that Scott Lovelady of Lovelady Graphics did on designing the cool graphics that you see in these pictures.

Stay tuned for our rescue road trip adventures!

PLEASE SAVE CROSBY!

How cute am I? Please rescue me!

CROSBY is in urgent need of your help!
We need to find Crosby a new foster home or a forever home ASAP
. He is currently in foster with multiple dogs BUT he needs to be an only pet. As a result, Crosby is isolated/separated and being kenneled way too much.  It is not fair to him at all.  We need your help!

If a new place for him is not found soon we are going to have to make the tough decision to euthanize him because his quality of life is not what it should be. Please no negative comments because this is something we do not want to do but we have to do what is best for Crosby. So please share his picture and story far and wide in hopes someone will think he is the perfect fit for their family.

ABOUT CROSBY

Crosby is an ADORABLE Basset Hound/Boxer mix with maybe a little Lab in there.  He weighs around 55lbs. Crosby is around two years old but still acts like a big puppy.

Crosby, who was named after Bing Crosby, was found right before Christmas where he had been living in a duck blind for about a month.

Crosby loves people, loves to go for walks, ride in the car, and play fetch.

He is a very sweet guy but he has to be an only dog, being out in his own for so long he does not share with other dogs very well. He will also need a home with older kids because he might accidentally knock down a small child.

Crosby is neutered, up to date on his shots, housebroken, crate trained, and heartworm negative. He is a GREAT dog for a home with no other pets.  Please help us to help him!  Share!

MACY: HOME SWEET HOME

Macy is Home at Last!
Last Summer - after waiting TWO YEARS as a PAWS foster dog, MACY finally got her chance at a new beginning.  She was transported to our rescue partner in Maine, and then want on to find the most wonderful forever home a girl could ask for.

Macy now lives the life that every dog dreams of, with a retired, doting dad, a bossy little canine "sister" (Annie) to patrol and play with, and a huge fenced in yard with sand pit just for dog digging pleasure.

Here are some happy dog pictures of Macy in her forever home in Maine.

Taking a nap on Dad's bed
Hunting Squirrels with my sis
And just a snippet of the glowing update her Dad sent in:
"It's been almost a year since Macy came home for good, and I thought you might like to know she's doing great. We've made so much progress that I find it difficult to remember the dog who made me wonder if I was going to be able to get her inside. New situations still make her wary, she's still frightened of gunshots and fireworks, and I wouldn't trust her to make good decisions in a situation where she was frightened, but other than that (and those things could be said about a good many dogs) she's pretty normal. Well, as normal as a herder with a wry sense of humor can be.

Been digging in the sand pit
Pretty much everything in her bonding has gone better than I expected. She's a natural fit with us. Annie and she have bonded as well as two dogs can, and picture 927 shows them at their favorite pass time which is chasing squirrels. Maybe their second favorite because just playing with each other is right up there. One of my favorite times is each morning listening to them play while I get ready to walk them. No, wait a minute, Macy also really loves tearing around the yard making me think she's going to break herself for sure...okay, let's just say Macy has a lot of things she loves to do because we can't leave out walks, eating, sleeping.

On the whole, she's incredibly polite, well behaved, and usually comes when called (Is there a squirrel involved? Am I in trouble? Then she's not so quick to respond.)

She's made friends with the fire/rescue workers on our walks, has a boyfriend in Zane, another border collie on our walk route, and is simply a joy to have here.

Yes, she's a successful rescue. Thank you all."

HUGE thank you to Susan and her family for fostering and caring for MACY for PAWS for years while she waited for her forever home.  Thank you all for supporting our rescue efforts to help dogs like Macy It takes a village to save each dog that comes through our doors.

Macy is just one of the many long term residents we care for here at PAWS.  Even in perfect health, caring for a foster dog for two years is VERY expensive - and as you all know, it is a rarity for us to ever get a dog that is in perfect health!

PLEASE HELP ADDIE - ANOTHER THROW AWAY DOG

Say "Hello" to Addie.

Addie is a 2-3 year old  Lab mix who has been in our rescue for almost two years.  Addie was left behind like garbage or an unwanted chair when her owners moved.  She is one of many throw away dogs that PAWS helps.

As is the case with most adult dogs that come through our rescue, Addie has tested positive for Heartworm and needs to be treated.  Her treatment will cost $245.00. Please consider donating $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 towards her treatment.  Every little bit helps.

Addie is a very sweet girl who deserves her chance at a good health and a loving home.

Thank you for helping her!
