"UNCLE!" - MEET SAM...

We are crying "Uncle" over here in the land of the dogs... Here is our newest PAWS dog...SAM!

Sam was hanging around one of our volunteer's work place. When everyone was leaving work the other day - he kept trying to get into everyone's cars. He almost got hit by a car on a very busy street in Memphis. So of course our volunteer couldn't leave him out there on his own. He jumped right into the car and that's his story.

This sweet German Shepherd only weighs 50 lbs (at least 20 lbs underweight.) It is hard to determine how old he is - as his front teeth are very worn down possibly from chewing in boredom while left outside in a yard - but his back teeth are bright white. We are guessing he is somewhere between 3-5 but it is hard to tell in his current condition.

Of course, Sam has also tested positive for Heartworm and will need to be treated. We cannot neuter him or treat him for Heartworm until he puts on some weight - so we have a few weeks to raise the funds for his treatment. His treatment will cost approximately $350 - please consider donating to help him: http://www.pawsofmarion.org/donate.html

The good news is that Sam is safe and adjusting to indoor living wonderfully! He does well with the other dogs in his foster except the mini dachshund- he acts a little too interested in her (not aggressive.) We don't know if he thinks she is some other type of animal and not a dog. He will scratch at the door when he has to go out, he loves to go for walks and walks pretty well on a leash. He rides great in the car and he enjoys being outside. He does great in his crate,

With a little TLC, vet care and good food - this boy is going to make a wonderful companion. Please help us to help him find his new beginning.
