Meet Jackie! This adorable Schnauzer mix girl is in dire need of a foster home. She has been through so much upheaval -and just needs a helping hand to find her way to a new beginning.
Jackie was surrendered to our local shelter by her owner for no apparent good reason... Poor girl was so confused - being left behind in a noisey kennel after being a beloved pet.
Unfortunately, Jackie is yet another pup who has not received the basic care of monthly heartworm prevention (why is this lifesaving preventative such a challenge for dog owners?). So...she tested positive for heartworm.
Being a black, adult heartworm positive dog - quickly moved Jackie onto the euthanasia list at the shelter.
The GOOD NEWS is that Jackie was spotted by one of our volunteers just in the nick of time - who pulled her from the shelter. MORE GOOD NEWS is that one of our rescue partners has offered to pay for Jackie's heartworm treatment AND take her into rescue once her treatment is completed.
All we have to do to save this girl is to find her a local indoor foster home that can care for her through the treatment. Please do not let lack of a foster home stand in the way of Jackie's new life...
Jackie is a wonderful, sweet-natured girl who gets along well with other dogs. She has a nice medium build - not too big, not too small... and her scruffy face will melt your heart.
Due to lack of foster space - Jackie is currently living outside - which is not fair to her and is not an appropriate situation for heartworm treatment. The sooner we can find foster care for Jackie - the sooner you all can read happy ending/beginning!
