REMEMBER THIS SAD HOUND DOG?

Golliath upon rescue

Remember Golliath? The sad, scared hound dog that was rescued from the local shelter at the last possible moment with his brother (Davey)?

Golliath headed off to rescue - a shy, frightened boy - but look at him now! Golliath was adopted by a wonderful family who sent the following update:

Remy (Golliath) is doing wonderfully. He is getting accustomed very nicely. He is very excited about the cats but within just three days he has really calmed down and learned not to jump too much :) around the cats. I am very impressed and pleased! He has such a personality, quite a ham! He is such a cuddler, so adorable. We have introduced him to our best friends dog Bella, a three year old black lab and they have been getting along wonderfully! He is such a good boy!

Here are some pictures we wanted to share with you!

Again thank you so much for all of your help.
Best regards,
Elizabeth

SCOUT - THE TV ADDICT

If you are looking for a companion to hang out with you and watch TV without fighting over the remote or giving feedback from the sidelines - then Scout is the dog for you:)

His foster mom recently emailed the above picture of Scout enjoying his shows. His all time favorite she discovered is "Animal Cops." Too funny!

Scout is doing well in his foster home where he lives with many other dogs. He also met some children last week and did great! He gave them a kiss and let them hug him. What a good boy!

If you have the love in your heart and room in your home for Scout - please email marionangels@yahoo.com or fill out our online adoption application.

Scout is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, crate trained, house trained - and an all around lovable boy. He is a hound - so a fenced in yard is a must.

BLOSSOM - BEAUTIFUL BULLY NEEDS IMMEDIATE HELP!

Sweet Blossom has been standing quietly on the sidelines - wating for someone to pick her, notice her, help her...but nobody has even inquired about her. Now Blossom is in trouble - and she needs to be noticed.

Blossom was rescued by a kind-hearted woman who pulled her out of a local shelter right before she was to be euthanized. Blossom was rescued with love - but not with much of a plan...as her rescuer really was not equipped to take in a foster dog.

As a result, Blossom has been living tied outside for many months. Now Blossom's rescuer is no longer able to care for her as Blossom has smartly discovered a way to escape her tether (who can blame her?) Blossom needs a foster home that is able to keep her inside as part of the family ASAP. This is a very people-oriented dog who should not live alone outside.

Blossom's situation is urgent - she needs a place to go right now. She would love a foster home with a fenced in yard - and perhaps a boyfriend to run and play with.

Blossom is a loyal and loving companion dog - please help us get her out of the yard and onto the couch!

If you can foster Blossom - please contact marionangels@yahoo.com - or fill out our online application.

YEY - IT'S THURSDAY!

Sidney & Rex - on their way at last!

Thursday is here again - which means it is....TRANSPORT DAY!

We had TEN true survivors head off to their new lives today via PETS transport. All of the dogs leaving were longterm residents that survived a wide range of medical challenges.

Sidney and Rex (pictured above) survived heartworm treatment. Rex was so malnourished and sicky when he arrived that we were worried that he would not make it through - but as you can see...he did with flying colors. Sidney had to finish nursing her litter of puppies before she could be treated...what a trooper!

The "A" puppies - Abby, Allen, Angela and Anna have been with us since they were a few weeks old. They have survived BOTH Distemper and Parvo - and have essentially grown up in foster care. Sadly - several of their sibblings were too sick to recover.

The "L" puppies - Lacy, Landry, Leslie and Lily also are Parvo survivors.

These dogs are true miracles - they refused to give up on the hope that a better life was around the corner.
All ten dogs were nursed back to health and fostered by die-hard PAWS volunteers, Lisa and Leanne. You guys rock.

It cost over $3,000 in vet expenses to save these 10 pups - PLEASE help us to continue to save the ones that cannot help themselves -- donate today! sponsor a dog! or open your home to a foster dog!

JACKIE - ADORABLE SCRUFFY PUP NEEDS FOSTER

Meet Jackie! This adorable Schnauzer mix girl is in dire need of a foster home. She has been through so much upheaval -and just needs a helping hand to find her way to a new beginning.

Jackie was surrendered to our local shelter by her owner for no apparent good reason... Poor girl was so confused - being left behind in a noisey kennel after being a beloved pet.

Unfortunately, Jackie is yet another pup who has not received the basic care of monthly heartworm prevention (why is this lifesaving preventative such a challenge for dog owners?). So...she tested positive for heartworm.

Being a black, adult heartworm positive dog - quickly moved Jackie onto the euthanasia list at the shelter.

The GOOD NEWS is that Jackie was spotted by one of our volunteers just in the nick of time - who pulled her from the shelter. MORE GOOD NEWS is that one of our rescue partners has offered to pay for Jackie's heartworm treatment AND take her into rescue once her treatment is completed.

All we have to do to save this girl is to find her a local indoor foster home that can care for her through the treatment. Please do not let lack of a foster home stand in the way of Jackie's new life...

Jackie is a wonderful, sweet-natured girl who gets along well with other dogs. She has a nice medium build - not too big, not too small... and her scruffy face will melt your heart.

Due to lack of foster space - Jackie is currently living outside - which is not fair to her and is not an appropriate situation for heartworm treatment. The sooner we can find foster care for Jackie - the sooner you all can read happy ending/beginning!

To foster Jackie, please complete our online foster application,
or send us an email: marionangels@yahoo.com.

MANDY - THIS WEEK'S LUCKY PUP!

Another transport day has come and gone - this week we had one very lucky pup heading off to a new life!

Mandy is a gorgeous German Shorthair Pointer who landed at our local shelter. Of course, being an adult dog in our area, she turned up heartworm positive. As a heartworm positive hound dog in a Southern municipal shelter - she had little chance of making it out alive.

Fortunately, one of our volunteers saw her - and rescued her from the shelter just in the nick of time. When Mandy arrived to her foster home - she was very fearful and showed signs of previously being abused. With the love and care that her foster mom gave - she began to trust again and is now a wonderful, loving pup.

Two months later - Mandy has completed heartworm treatment - and on Thursday - headed off to her new life!

Thank you to Leanne for battling the traffic jams and crime scene to get Mandy to her ride to freedom.

REED: ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING:)

We love our happy endings! Here is an update from Reed's adoptive family. Sounds like Reed has hit the jackpot and is loving his new life.

Our one year anniversary with Buddy (formerly Reed) is coming up and I thought I'd let you know how successful our adoption has been. Buddy has gained about 10 lbs and is taller and stronger than he was.... we have decided that he was younger than advertised when we got him, given the growth and development that has occurred.

His desperate need to escape out the door is no longer present at all (!)and he will stay on the property when we let him outside with us off leash. He has taken to our training very well, although as you know, those first few months were difficult. We credit consistency in his daily life, but more than anything, our love for him coupled with his desire to belong and please. He really is the sweetest and most sensitive pet I have had, and of course each of my pets have been special to me in their own way.

We take him to the dog park everyday, yes, even in winter! And we walk him on the beach. He has lots of friends and admirers who love him too. Our 17+year old, Lily, is still hanging on and they love each other very much. She has been a wonderful dog and I think has influenced him; he has given her a new lease on life and we actually believe he has given her reason to live these last months.

I have included some photos. The first one is the one that was posted on petfinders and the second one was taken about a month ago in our yard. You are welcome to use them if needed.

It is a very happy story and thank you again. Jane
